Marvel Comics is about to take its smallest superhero and steer him right into the spotlight. Ready for the big time, before hitting theaters worldwide, writer Nick Spencer (Superior Foes of Spider-Man) and artist Ramon Rosanas (Night of the Living Deadpool) take Scott Lang to new heights in Ant-Man #1.
Scott Lang would never be described as the world's best superhero. Henry Pym holds the honor of being the best Ant-Man. Unfortunately, Pym became the creator of the Avengers' super villain, Ultron, and then joined the Masters of Evil. Everything is about to change when the Superior Iron Man calls up Scott for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
In an interview with Marvel, the Morning Glories writer describes the mindset of the reluctant hero, "For Scott, being Ant-Man is kind of his one big thing. No matter how much trouble it's caused him, or how much it's cost him, it's still the thing that plucked him out of criminal obscurity and gave him a chance to be something. And when we open, he's trying to spin it into something new. He sees an opportunity."
After being set to prison, dealing with a messy divorce, this is Scott Lang's chance to turn it all around and become the hero he has always wanted to be.
This is a great way for audiences to get to know the miniature-sized superhero before the blockbuster movie hits theaters in the summer. As we have mentioned here, in the highly anticipated action flick, Paul Rudd (Role Models) will play the role of Scott and Oscar winner Michael Douglas (Wall Street) will appear as Hank Pym. We are very excited to see what director Peyton Reed has in store for audiences.
Ant-Man #1 will hit stores everywhere in January and Ant-Man the movie arrives in July 17, 2015. Readers, are you excited to meet Scott Lang?
