It seems One Direction fans would be craving fan fiction about one of their favorite boy banders, but according to new reports that couldn't be further from the truth. A new book about Harry Styles based off fan fiction is reportedly getting the major motion picture treatment. The book, After, is written by Anna Todd and has yet to be published, but is about to get the big-screen treatment. But fans aren't thrilled with the bad image of the boy bander presented in the book.
Todd began publishing the book by chapters on the social media site Wattpad, and fans couldn't seem to get enough of the fan fiction. Due to the popularity, it looks like Paramount has already acquired the rights in order to bring the journey of Styles to the big screen.
"In case you haven't heard... Paramount acquired the rights to After!!!" Todd wrote on her Twitter. "I am so happy and so excited to. I'm trying to keep up with all these amazing tweets and it's just so thank you guys for everything!"
But while it seems fans were obsessed with the fan fiction when it was on the Internet, it doesn't seem they're so receptive now that it's coming to the silver screen.
One Direction fans took to Twitter after the news broke and got the hashtag #SuspendAnnaTodd trending on the social media site. The fans got into an uproar after they claimed the book presented a bad image of Styles, saying his image is portrayed as "abusive."
According to Unreality TV, Todd has said Harry's name won't be featured in the movie.
