A number of popular British musicians hit the stage Sunday night at the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony in Stratford. Among the bunch included the reunited pop band the Spice Girls, rockers The Who, New Waver Annie Lennox, and "Domino" singer Jessie J.
Pop princess Jessie J has every right to proclaim that she was ''blown away'' by the London 2012 Closing Ceremony on Sunday. Not only did the British songstress excite the crowd with her hit single "Price Tag," she also joined the stage with hip-hop artist Tinie Temph and R&B crooner Taio Cruz to perform a rendition of the Bee Gees' "You Should be Dancin'." Jessie J also reappeared onstage in the big finale, sporting a nude Vivienne Westwood cat-suit alongside members of the legendary rock band Queen. "The Do it Like a Dude" star tore into the classic "We Will Rock You" with guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor. Jessie J probably wouldn't be the first artist that comes to mind to replace vocalist Freddie Mercury in such a highly anticipated Queen reunion, but the performance was outstanding and marked a great end to the London Olympic Games. The Mercury tribute before Jessie J hit the stage with fellow Queen rockers was a great lead-in to a phenomenal guitar solo by May.
Jessie J later tweeted about the whole experience:
@JessieJ: "Oh what a night! So proud to represent the UK! Congratulations to everyone! Booooooom!"
Closing ceremony director David Arnold deemed the event "the greatest after-party in the world."
