Saturday Night Live has had a lot of shake-ups and additions for their current 40th season. Just yesterday, Oct. 20, the famed NBC sketch show made yet another one: they've decided to add comedian Leslie Jones to their cast.
Jones is currently a writer for the show and has appeared in a number of sketches this season, including some Weekend Update segments and the recent "39 Cents" sketch during host Bill Hader's episode.
With the announcement made yesterday, it's the perfect time considering the show was off last week. It will return this coming Saturday, Oct. 25, with host Jim Carrey. It'll be the first episode with Jones appearing as an official cast member.

Here is the aforementioned "39 Cents" sketch:
The comedian was first in the running to appear on SNL last fall when the producers were in search for a new cast member. The spot, however, went to Sasheer Zamata, and Jones was brought on as a writer. Obviously, she's proven that her onscreen appearance may be more of a value to the show.
A comedian with a big personality, it's possible that Jones very well may prove to be the next break out star from SNL.
