Our first American Idol is back. Kelly Clarkson took to the stage over the weekend for her first post-baby performance after giving birth to daughter River Rose earlier this summer. During her concert, which was to honor the new Microsoft store opening in the SouthPark Mall, Clarkson performed a cover of Sam Smith's song "Stay with Me."

According to E! News, the concert, held in Charlotte, North Carolina, at Symphony Park, became Kelly's first full stop after her daughter was born. She also took to the stage last month to perform a duet with Trisha Yearwood.

Lucky for us, a fan recorded the whole cover and put it on YouTube so we can watch it over and over:

Before performing the song, Clarkson prefaces it, saying, "Anybody like Sam Smith here? I love this song and I know you probably have heard it a bunch, but just bare with me, I love it. This is called 'Stay with Me.'"

As we previously reported, Kelly is busy at work on her new studio album, which she revealed details about on her Twitter page, saying it'd be released early next year.

"Yes. I'm so proud of my next album! Might have a special guest on the album... maybe :)," Clarkson tweeted, adding, "Doesn't come out until early next year."

She also took to the social media site to tease some of the lyrics from a new song, writing, "The high road can be a lonely place but I'd rather talk to my shadow than a mirage."

Hopefully, we'll hear some soulful stuff on the new record, like what she did on the cover of Sam's song.
