The Flash continues on the CW with an all-new episode featuring more baddies and heroes from the DC Universe. In Things You Can't Outrun, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) has to confront the DC Comics super villain, The Mist

The Mist appears out of nowhere and takes out a group of mobsters during their secret meeting. Joe (Jesse L. Martin) explains to the team that they need to build a prison for the metahumans. As they discuss turing the base of their lab into a prison, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) starts to remember her dead fiancee.

In the flashback, the night the particle accelerator exploded, Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell) visited Caitlin at her lab. During the celebration, Harrison (Tom Cavanagh) notices something wrong is happening. A big explosion happens that worries everyone in the team.

Ronnie heads down to the base to stop the explosion from killing everyone in the lab. Cisco (Carlos Valdes) shuts the door to keep radiation from leaking, but also keeping Ronnie inside. Ronnie dies in a blaze of fire as he talks to Caitlin one last time, over a walkie talkie.

Following the murder of a lawyer, the Flash takes on the Mist, but he loses badly. The Flash returns to the lab suffocating, with the poison inside him. Caitlin has to stick a syringe in Barry to get a sample.

The team discovers the origin story of their metahuman. The Mist turns out to be an ex-criminal on death row. He went after the mob bosses who betrayed him, the lawyer who sent him to prison, and he still has one more person left to go.

Caitlin discovers the third target is the arresting officer, Joe West. After talking to Eddie, Barry discovers Joe went to visit his father. Just as Barry suits up, Caitlin hands him an antidote for the poison.

Visiting his best friend in prison, Joe tells Henry (John Wesley Shipp) that he is reopening the murder case. All of sudden, the Mist shows up and enters Joe's lungs. After disappearing, the Flash injects him with the antidote.

The Flash runs back and forth, with the Mist chasing after him. The super villain cannot keep going in his gaseous state and loses concentration. The Flash knocks him out cold with a single punch.

Joe is in the hospital recovering from his attack. Iris (Candice Patton) and Eddie (Rick Cosnett) reveal to Joe that they have been dating, but he already figured it out. Joe promises not to shoot his partner as long as Eddie and Iris are together.

As the Mist ends up locked up in a the prison cell, Barry visits his own father in the slammer. They both talk reminisce about their lost loved one. Barry continues running in honor of his late mother.

In the flashback, Harrison walks to his secret chamber and pulls up a video. He watches Barry get struck by lightning that same night.

The Mist made his appearance in The Flash, becoming the team's first prisoner. Readers, what did you think of Things You Can't Outrun?
