Billy Bob Thornton Reveals Details About Angelina Jolie Relationship

Billy Bob Thornton's marriage to Anglinea Jolie has gone down in history for their eccentric displays of affection and vials of blood around their necks. Thornton, allegedly promoting a possible Bad Santa sequel, is coming clean about his wild relationship with Jolie, saying it was "pretty crazy."

The Fargo actor, 59, opened up to The Hollywood Reporter, explaining, "I mean, it was a crazy time. I've never been fond of it. [The] vial of blood is very simple. You know those lockets you buy that are clear and you put a picture of your grannie in and wear it around your neck? She bought two of those."

The couple would instantly make headlines as they stepped out on the red carpet together in 2000, not only for their 20-year age difference, but for their behavior that's still considered odd to most.

Thornton continued:

"We were apart a lot because she's off making Tomb Raider and I'm making Monster's Ball. She thought it would be interesting and romantic if we took a little razorblade and sliced our fingers, smeared a little blood on these lockets and you wear it around your neck just like you wear your son or daughter's baby hair in one. Same thing. From that, we were wearing quart jars of blood around our necks. And we were vampires and we lived in a dungeon."

The couple divorced in June 2002 after she announced that the child they adopted together from Cambodia was going to be raised singly by Jolie. We're certain raising a child with two parents who believe they're vampires living in dungeons wouldn't be the best environment.

"I mean, it had some basis in fact. We had a basement which I had a recording studio in. So when I tell a journalist I stay down in the dungeon all the time, you know, recording music, they don't hear 'recording music,' they hear 'dungeon,'" he explained. "You know, because it makes a better story."

And he couldn't be more correct!

All in all, Thornton explained that he and Jolie had a great relationship.

"We had a great time together," he said. "We had a great marriage and I chickened out because I didn't feel good enough. That's all that happened. It was no big deal, we never hated each other."
