'Modern Family' Star Sarah Hyland Says She's 'A Positive Person' Following Break-Up And Restraining Order From Boyfriend

Sarah Hyland has been through a pretty rough couple months. The Modern Family star broke up with her boyfriend of almost five years this past summer and also had to file a restraining order against him. But it looks like the 23-year-old actress, who calls herself a "positive person," is holding up pretty well, all things considered.

E! News caught up with the starlet during the ASPCA event in New York City, where she clued everyone in on how she is doing after the split and after obtaining a court-ordered, permanent restraining order from her ex.

"I'm a really positive person," the actress told E! at the Swiffer & ASPCA Celebrate Pet Adoption Event. "I have an amazing work ethic. I love working. I'm a workaholic. So adding something like Swiffer to my table of things, this huge pile of things I'm dabbling in, I love it."

The star credits her amazing work ethic as the thing that's keeping her mind off everything that's happening in her personal life right now.

The celebrity news site also got a hold of the star's restraining order court documents, where it was revealed that her ex, Matt Prokop, "relentlessly bombarded [her] with vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voice mails including his own suicide threats," when the star broke up with him.

She also revealed an incident to the court, where Prokop had her up against a car and he was choking her to the point where she couldn't breathe or speak.

"I was scared and in fear for my life," Hyland explained to the court.

But it looks like the starlet is doing better now as she took the time out to speak about the importance of pet adoptions.
