This week Warner Bros. Entertainment announced its new digital division, entitled Blue Ribbon Content. While a new company might not sound too interesting to most of us, this news means that new content including TV shows, short films and the like will start to premiere! One of the biggest projects is a live-action adaptation of DC Comics' Static Shock! in fact, this series already has a writer/director: Reginald Hudlin, the producer of Django Unchained!

Fans of the comic book hero may remember the animated series from some years ago, but sometime in the near future, BRC will produce and release the live-action version of the series! This is the latest update of the recent trend of live-action comic book adaptations - but we're not complaining!

The Hollywood Reporter broke this news, with a great synopsis of the upcoming series:

Writer/producer/director Reginald Hudlin (Best Picture Oscar nominee for producing Django Unchained) leads the creative team behind a live-action adaptation of Static Shock, featuring the African-American super hero Static, aka Virgil Ovid Hawkins.

Are you excited about Static Shock? What about the new company, Blue Ribbon Content? What else does this division of Warner have in store for us?

"We are tremendously excited about Blue Ribbon Content's initial slate of development projects, and we are incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to work with such a talented group of writers and producers on projects that they feel exceptionally passionate about," new head of Blue Ribbon Content Sam Register said in a statement this week. "We look forward to delivering compelling and memorable programming for our fans and distribution partners."
