Shailene Woodley is definitely a new kind of Hollywood A-lister. The former star of The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Divergent appeared on Ellen DeGeneres's talk show earlier this week to promote her new film White Bird in a Blizzard and the host got the low-down on Woodley's current living situation and why she chooses to live out of her suitcase.
In the clip posted by E! News, Shailene gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, "living out of a suitcase." The Divergent actress mentions that she doesn't have a place she calls home and that she actually lives out of her carry-on suitcase.
It may seem strange, but everything Shailene owns fits in a four-wheeled "progressive" carry-on suitcase she admits she stole from her mom's house.
She explains that what made her decide to live that kind of lifestyle is that she doesn't have a need for all the excess.
"I feel like I'm so young right now," the 22-year-old explained. "This is the time to travel and experience new things!"
"You know what it is, it feels so nice to not have to worry about, 'Oh, where is that pair of jeans?' because you only have one pair of jeans," the actress explains.
But the lifestyle might come with a downside, as she explains that should her suitcase get lost she's kind of screwed.
"Which is why I have a carry-on because it's like if everything I own is in a suitcase and that suitcase somehow gets lost, then I'd just be stranded with no clothes," she jokingly explains.
Ellen chimes in, saying she finds what Woodley is doing pretty awesome.
"I think it's amazing, It's very admirable what you do," the host said. "It makes me feel horrible about all my stuff. I feel like I have too much stuff now and need to just get a suitcase and scale down."
