Fans of The Real Housewives of New York have been abuzz since earlier this month when they learned that Bethenny Frankel was returning to the place where she got her start. It's executive producer Andy Cohen that viewers need to thank, as he is the mastermind behind the coup of getting the former RHONY to come back on the show.
In an episode of the YouTube talk show, Ask Andy, Cohen's assistant, Daryn Carp, talks to the Bravo exec about how he pulled off getting Frankel to agree to the return.
"The thing transpired in her kitchen... I went over there to convince her to come back to the show and she had different ideas about things she wanted to do... I kind of said, 'I don't think that those are good ideas.' I said, 'I have a good idea,'" Andy explained during a segment of the YouTube show. "And then I brought it up and she's like, 'OK, I'm listening,' and then I really told her all my reasons and I could tell that she was seriously going to think about it. We had a very long talk about it and we had a couple more long talks about it and then she said, 'I'm in.' We had a deal."
He also explains that all these negotiations took place back at the beginning of the summer, and the fact that they have been able to keep it a secret for so long was really a big deal.
As far as who Bethenny will be getting along with on the show, Andy says that he doesn't really know yet.
"I think Heather-Carole thing is a coin toss. I think she and LuAnn, weirdly, will get along given their history," he explains. "I think the rest are up for grabs."
