Have you ever asked yourself where some of your favorite celebrities are now? Well, MStars News has, and now we've caught up with one of our favorite reality stars: David Broom. Broom was cast on the hit MTV show The Real World: New Orleans, and now he's known as Tokyo Niyeli. Niyeli is described as a sexually-charged recipe singer.
According to The Grio, Broom explained that he changed his name because his friends started calling him "Tokyo" after his love for anime and other Japanese pop culture.
Broom now appears on a YouTube show called Chef Showtime, claiming that his love for food and music is the reason behind it.
According to The Urban Daily, Broom said:
"I've decided to put my musical skills — so to speak — and my love for cooking into a creative outlet. Because I've been with MTV for so long and I've been in the music industry, I know now that I don't want to be an artist. I just want to enjoy music and [enact] whatever creativity is truly in me."
"Being from Chicago, I love house music," he said. "But being a producer, I'll listen to the tracks that I've been making for years and think to myself, what goes well with this?
"The dubstep popcorn one, it just kind of spoke to me. Like, 'Hey, this is all about popcorn.' So I made the popcorn work.
"I love chicken. I mean the legs, the thighs — I mean, come on. I love me some baked chicken, roasted, maybe some barbecue and a little bit of sriracha. Sexy. Kicking it. Legs, thighs and breasts, let's not even get into it for real."
MStars News has to ask: Do you think David, aka Tokyo, has come a long way from his "Come on Be My Baby Tonight" days?
Tokyo the chef produces, directs and creates all the recipe songs himself and currently works for MTV in Chicago.
