As reported a few days ago by MStarsNews, a mother in Florida recently started up a petition to have a number of Breaking Bad action figures pulled from the stores because of the nature of the toys. Featuring action figures of both Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, the AMC dolls feature both of the show's main characters carrying guns and bags of both meth and money. And now, it seems she's won, because Rolling Stone is reporting that Toys "R" Us is pulling all of the controversial toys.
Sadly, kids will have to go without those Heisenberg dolls this Christmas... unless you can find them somewhere online, of course! (For a LOT of money, most likely).
Toys "R" Us spokeswoman Kathleen Waugh recently told NBC News, "Let's just say, the action figures have taken an 'indefinite sabbatical' – which is a classic line from the AMC series.
The aforementioned petition was kicked off earlier this week by Florida mother Susan Schrijver, and though she is a fan of the series (honestly, who isn't?), Schrijver claimed that the toys were incredibly inappropriate for the stores. And despite Toys "R" Us claiming "the product packaging clearly notes that the items are intended for ages 15 and up" and the fact that they are displayed in the "adult action figure" sections of the stores, it seems the ultimate decision was to take Heisenberg down.
Funny, Gustavo Fring couldn't bring down Walter White in a whole season of Breaking Bad, but a random mother in Fort Myers, Florida was able to do so in less than a week. Bummer...
