After months of teasing and teasing, the season premiere of Constantine is about to begin on NBC. With actor Matt Ryan playing the title role of the DC Comics superhero, along with cast mates, Harold Perrineau and Angélica Celaya, this is the perfect opportunity to check out why this TV show is must-see TV.
As we mentioned before, in the DC Comics/Vertigo Universe, John Constantine (Ryan) is an occult detective, ladies man, and con artist all put together. In the pilot, the paranormal investigator is called back into action after the death of a close friend. Here are five reasons you should see the season premiere of Constantine.
5) He Is John Constantine
Faithful to the comics, Ryan embodies the troubled anti-hero, who walks a fine line between addiction and danger. Dressed in his trademark fashion, Constantine steps out into the streets wearing a white dress shirt, a faded trench coat, and carries a box full of cigarettes in his pocket.
4) Call Me Manny
We loved Perrineau on Lost and Sons of Anarchy. This is why we're excited to see the Z Nation actor show up as Manny, the heavenly angel who has a special message for Constantine.
3) Bear McCreary
The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. composer definitely knows a thing or two about comics. Viewers are currently listening to his terrifying music on The Walking Dead. In the behind-the-scenes featurette, McCreary conducts the orchestra as they perform the main title.
2) Zed
According to Variety, Angélica Celaya plays Mary "Zed" Martin, an artist who becomes John Constantine's lover. In the comics, all the women in John's life always end up leaving him, or end up dead. We can't wait to see how this Latina beauty goes toe-to-toe with Ryan in the second episode.
1) Three Big Names Rolled Into One
The series is being developed by Dexter showrunner Daniel Cerone, Man of Steel screenwriter David S. Goyer came up with the story, and the pilot episode is helmed by Game of Thrones director Neil Marshall. These are the names you want to bring your comic book to life
Constantine premieres on NBC October 24 at 10pm . Readers, are you excited to see the pilot?
