Lily Collins spoke with the U.K.'s The Daily Telegraph on Sunday (October 26) and revealed her thoughts on girls and boys "just being friends" and how tough Hollywood relationships are.

The daughter of Phil Collins plays a character named Rosie in her current film, Love, Rosie. Rosie has been friends with boy named Alex (Sam Claflin) since they were little, but could they possibly be something more? With the plot in mind, Collins was asked if boys and girls can be platonic friends.

"When you're attracted to someone as a friend, you're attracted for multiple reasons that far exceed sexuality," Collins said. "Sometimes that love and affection can get confusing. You wonder, 'Am I attracted to this person because I want to be with them, or is it because I just really like hanging out with them?' You have to try to decipher where those feelings are coming from. Sometimes that love and affection can get confusing. My conclusion is that it's totally possible to be in a relationship while not in a 'relationship.'"

Collins is very private when it comes to her personal relationships, as she has witnessed the downfalls of that with her famous family. She is the half-sister of actress Joely Collins and musician Simon Collins, from her fathers first marriage. However she has been romantically linked to Zac Efron, Taylor Lautner and Jamie Campbell-Bower.

The Blind Side actress is private about her relationships for a reason. She explains that even going out to lunch with someone, especially a boy, strikes headlines. "I can go out for lunch with a girlfriend and the press will say, "Lily goes to lunch with a friend," she explained. "If it's with a boy, it's, like, rumour mill! And for me, I feel like saying, 'Wait a second guys, are you saying that guys and girls can't be friends? Because I'm pretty sure we can be!'"
