London and its NFL fans are continuing to knock on the door of American football, demanding their very own franchise, and it seems they might just get one. If they do, it could be worth a staggering $145 million per season to the United Kingdom. Their Wembley Stadium games have been a huge hit, and with each one the country and the NFL are making huge profits, making it near impossible for the NFL to avoid making it a long-term project. Sajid Javid has launched a report, and the results are staggering, virtually proving that London WILL force through their own deal to get their own franchise.
If London has its own team by 2022, then 8 games per season will be held there, meaning the city and country would be looking at around £102m per season (around $145 million). With the sell-outs in mind, Javid explained: "The NFL games at Wembley have been a huge success showing that there is a big, growing fan-base for the sport in the UK. If the NFL decide that the time is right to base a team overseas, London and the UK will welcome it with open arms."
The Detroit Lions were the latest team to win at Wembley, beating the Atlanta Falcons. Check out each and every result that has occurred as the sport continued to grow overseas.
