While HBO's mysterious and morose hit series of 2014, The Leftovers, ended its first season run this summer, we still have plenty of questions leading into the new episodes of season 2, debuting in 2015. In a new interview with series co-creator and executive producer Damon Lindelof, new details concerning the plot, spoilers and returning characters were revealed!
Lindelof sat down with TV Line to talk about the highly anticipated second season of The Leftovers. In this interview, we learned some details on the 2015 episodes ranging from plot details and even speculation about what to expect.
"We're still using [author and series co-creator] Tom Perrotta as a guide," Lindelof said in regards to distancing the new episodes from the novel the series is based on. "He's very actively engaged in the creative process on the show. But we pretty much burned through the entire novel in Season 1, so there's, sadly, nothing left to steal."
Lindelof also explained that season two will remain as "ambiguous" as season one- meaning we won't be getting any answers to the mounting questions, just like this summer.
"It's very liberating to finally be working on a show that promises no answers. The Leftovers - and ultimately, it's why I love Tom's book so much - is about living in a world of ambiguous mystery, which we all live in. We don't know what happens when we die," he explained.
