Following the first few opening weeks of the 2014 regular season, the Maple Leafs snag the No. 25 spot in Scott Burnside's official power ranking round-up for ESPN.com with a 4-4-1 record:

"The Leafs are just 1-4 at home, and getting waxed Saturday at Air Canada Centre by the arch-nemesis Bruins does nothing to improve the mood in Leafs Nation."
