Following the first few opening weeks of the 2014 regular season, the Predators snag the impressive No. 5 spot in Scott Burnside's official NHL power ranking for ESPN.com with a 6-1-2 record:

"The Predators have just one regulation loss and are taking advantage of a schedule that has had them at home for much of October, going 4-1-1 at Bridgestone Arena."

Meanwhile, the Flames currently hold the  No. 8 spot (out of 30 total teams) with a 5-4-2 record. According to Burnside:

"The Flames are 4-2 on the road and are defying the pundits who believed Calgary would be in the hunt for the first overall pick in June's draft."
