Scandal Season 4 Spoilers: Character Makes Surprise Return in Midseason Finale

Plenty of characters have either died or disappeared on ABC's Scandal, and some of them have returned at some point. According to a new report, another person will make a surprise return in the midseason finale of Season 4.

The "Spoiler Room" column at EW.com visited the set of the show and reports the following news.

My visit to the set happened to coincide with the cast coming out of the table read for the midseason finale. Plenty of familiar faces will make an appearance in it, but I was particularly shocked by one guest star among the crowd. While I can't divulge the identity of said person, I can say you will be surprised by his or her return."

There's not much concrete information there, but that just means that the guessing game can begin. Perhaps the most shocking return would be Columbus Short as Harrison Wright, who died between Seasons 3 and 4. Short has had numerous off-screen issues and left the show before Season 4, so his return would be a shock.

Another truly surprising return would be Henry Ian Cusick, who played Stephen Finch in the first season, when Scandal was almost a completely different show. He did not return for Season 2, and they explained his absence with a few passing lines. Could he somehow wind up back on the show, even in a flashback?
