Drew Lachey is ready to make his return to ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," and the 98 Degrees singer is already sizing up the competition to make sure he secures a second victory on the hit celebrity reality television show.
Looks like a former boy band rivalry will make its way onto the dance floor this season, as Lachey is set to compete against NSYNC's Joey Fatone. Lachey jokingly tells People:
"I think there's a bit of a competitive streak between Joey Fatone and myself. We're good friends and we go back a long way. But the smack-talk is already starting with the boy band competition thing."
Lachey claims that "Dancing with the Stars" is "almost like a political campaign," and this season will most likely prove to be a heated one since it is a battle of the All-Stars. Returning DWTS favorites, including Lachey and Fatone along with Shawn Johnson, Pamela Anderson, and Kristie Alley among others, will return for the season 15 dancing competition. Lachey won DWTS' second season with coach Cheryl Berke in 2006, and this autumn he is set to pair up with Anna Trebunskaya.
"I think it's going to be a whole lot of fun because I get a whole new bag of tricks, basically. For people who have the same partner, they're going to use the same techniques and do the same style and teaching method," Lachey told People about the partner changeup.
Fatone, 35, placed second in season four of "Dancing with the Stars," so it wouldn't be a surprise if he hopes to seek redemption in the upcoming season.
"Everyone on the show is very competitive," Lachey remarks to People. "Everyone's laughing and like, 'Oh, haha, this is going to be fun,' but I guarantee once the show starts up, you're going to see everybody's true colors come out."
"Dancing with the Stars All Stars" debuts on Sept. 24 on ABC.
