This week marks week eight of Dancing With the Stars Season 19 and everything is harder and more intense. The "Dynamic Duos" episode had each dancing pair channel their favorite famous couple and battle to make it to the quarterfinals. Plus, the stakes were even higher this week.

For tonight's episode, the top score of the night earned that couple immunity from this week's elimination round, which is a big deal. For the rest of the teams there was a dance off, which added points to the winner's scores for next week.

The first team to perform tonight was Lea Thompson and Artem Chigvintsev. They chose the world's most famous criminal couple Bonnie and Clyde. Last week the pair landed the second spot on the leader board, so this week they knew they had to maintain high scores. Their jazz routine was fun and definitely told a story. It was full of slick moves and great kicks. The judges wanted more of a badass attitude, but they still received 32 points.

Up next was Michael Waltrip and Emma Slater. The duo took on the characters of Tarzan and Jane and danced a foxtrot. After landing at the bottom of the leader board last week, the couple was feeling the pressure. After the couple entered the stage by dropping in on a vine, they danced to the theme song from the Disney movie Tarzan and it was really good. It was easily one of Michael's better dances, but the judges still only gave them 25 points.

One of the best routines of the night was Janel Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy. The romantic couple, who still claim they aren't dating, channeled their inner Romeo and Juliet personas. They had a contemporary routine and it was beautiful. From the airy lifts to the emotional performance, Janel and Val nailed their routine. The judges agreed that it was their best dance to date and gave them a perfect score of 40.

Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd took the stage next with their paso doble routine. They chose Johnny Cash and June Carter as their famous couple this week. Peta decided to really push Tommy and had him practice with less breaks for longer periods of time, but the couple only got 26 points. Tommy also injured himself in their routine, which threatened their chances of winning their dance off round.

The adorable pair of Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas chose a biblical couple, which is perfect for Sadie. They portrayed Adam and Eve in their contemporary routine and it was really good. The whole routine had a tribal vibe and an added element of intrigue by using an apple as a prop throughout the dance. It was a huge success after last week's less than awesome performance. They received 38 points.

Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson took the stage next and they were fabulous as usual. The hilarious duo chose Batman and Robin (Witney was Robin) as their dynamic duo and it was epic. After Alfonso flew in on a wire pulley across the stage the team stepped up their game with a cha-cha routine. The footwork was great and the comical part of the routine was fun to watch. They got 38 points.

Bethany Mota and Derek Hough finished off the regular routines for the night. They performed a salsa routine portraying Lucy and Ricky from I Love Lucy. Their intro video was really funny and they pulled off their characters throughout the routine. It was fast, versatile and enjoyable to watch. They go 37 points for their fiery routine.

At the end of the first round of competition, Janel and Val had the highest score so they were safe from elimination this week. You still need to vote for them however, if you want them to stay next week. The rest of the couples competed in dance off performances and they were very good.

Since Alfonso and Witney had the second highest score of the night, they got to choose their opponent. They chose to dance against Lea and Artem, because the previous week they beat them on the leader board and they wanted to prove themselves that they were better. Lea and Artem then picked the jive as their style for the dance off.

Alfonso and Witney danced first and they are flawless. Their jive was fast, upbeat and really fun. Lea and Artem matched their routine with a quick and technical jive performance. These two teams were really evenly matched, but when it came down to it, team Alfonso and Witney won, which resulted in three more points to their score for the night.
