'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Spoilers- Will Elena & Damon Get Back Together When He Comes Back From The Other Side?

The new season of The Vampire Diaries is only a few episodes in, but fans are already obsessed with it. While our favorite characters from Mystic Falls are still dealing with Damon and Bonnie being dispelled from their hometown, they are about to get a major surprise when the former bad boy Salvatore returns from the other side.

Fans of the show saw Damon return from his prison during last weeks episode, and while Stefan is the only one who has seen him, we are sure that others aren't going to be as welcoming of their former vampire friend, especially since he has come back from the other side without Bonnie.

Creator of the supernatural series, Julie Plec, spoke to E! News about what is ahead for Damon, Elena, and Stefan.

"Now that Damon's finally back, he won't waste another second being without Elena," Julie Plec says, however there might be a possible road block in Damon's plans, as Elena has compelled her memories of their relationship away.

"With her memories compelled away, she's not nearly as enthused by the prospect of seeing him," Plec adds. "Stefan was feeling lost, but the look on his face when Damon returned in last week's episode says it all. The bond between these brothers is stronger than ever."

"When it comes to Damon, without the good, there's a whole lot of bad. And Elena's still very much focused on that. However, not knowing the full story of their relationship will eventually begin to gnaw at her, and she'll have to decide if that's something she can live with."

So will Elena ever fall back in love with Damon. Well TV Guide talked to executive producer Caroline Dries, who said that a lot if going to come down to their first face-to-face encounter as he returns.

"She's going to experience a lot of expectations riding on the moment of Damon and Elena coming face-to-face once again," Caroline explained. "Can their love break through the compulsion? Will she look at him and fall back in love because it's him? Will she run for the hills? There are a lot of questions we're building to, so we're going to try to milk that moment and make it as big of a deal as we've been leading up to."
