Rapper Nicki Minaj, 31, shows off her curvy figure in V magazine's Issue 91 and chats about how she takes risks, her new album The Pinkprint and what she finds empowering in women.

The "Anaconda" singer is promoting her third album, The Pinkprintas a continuation of The Re-Up but with a lot more hip-hop roots.

"You can expect a great intro piece that really walks you through where my mind has been the past two years," the rapper expressed to the magazine. "There's a strong love and relationship section that has been lacking lately on the radio. It's not the glossy stuff, but the nitty-gritty, the fights, the heart-breaking things that people don't really touch on in rap."

Minaj continues to state in the interview that her goal to be in the industry was not to make lots of money and have all the materialistic things. It was to get out of a lifestyle she was living in in Jamaica, Queens. She wanted to get her mother out of the hood.

When it comes to Minaj's style of rapping, which has given her a chart-topping career, she says, "I always push the envelope because I'm Nicki Minaj. I have to. No matter who I'm on a song with, I feel like I have to say at least one thing that no one else is willing to say. Whether it's Madonna or Britney or Beyoncé, they always tell me, 'Yes. Be yourself. Talk your sh--t.'"

When it comes to women, what she loves about them is those who are empowering: "I love women who take control, who set standards and who believe in themselves enough to lead the way in terms of career."
