Actress Jessica Chastain has a ton of buzz around her these days, thanks to the recent release of the highly anticipated sci-fi adventure film Interstellar from director Christopher Nolan. Besides this current movie, her newly announced role in Ridley Scott's The Martian, opposite Matt Damon, has added to the attention, culminating in some great Marvel Cinematic Universe rumors as well. In a recent interview with IGN, the actress tackles these subjects, making some of her first comments about Captain Marvel!
Rumors started spreading recently, concerning Chastain being up for the role of Captain Marvel. Unfortunately, the actress took to Twitter to deny these rumors, but confirmed her meetings with Marvel. Check out the tweet here:
Oops uh oh....I've never had talks about Captain Marvel. Was referring to a different film from over a year ago, in my recent MTV interview.

Despite this denial, is Captain Marvel a character she'd like to play? IGN asked the acclaimed actress just this.
"People have asked me if I'd be interested in playing a superhero or doing a superhero film. And absolutely, but for me, in any genre of film that you do... I want to be part of it," she explained to the website. "So if I'm doing a superhero film, I want to wear a costume, I want a fight scene, I don't want to be the girlfriend or the civilian that's taking care of superheroes or whatever. I want to be part of the action. So if they came a calling that sounds very cool."
Speaking of new roles, Chastain is confirmed for The Martian from filmmaker Ridley Scott.
"I'm really excited to work with Ridley," she said. "I've always loved his work - ever since Alien with Ripley. He's incredible and I love the worlds he creates. Also after I saw the film [Interstellar] I thought 'Wow it's such a great film - that would have been amazing - I want to wear wires now and be an astronaut.' And then right after I saw it I got a call that said would I be interested in playing an astronaut. It happened all in line!"
