Despite severe neck pain, NOFX rockers Fat Mike did not cancel a rowdy gig in Sydney, Australia on Wednesday evening (November 5). But given the crowd's rambunctious behavior, maybe the "Franco Un-American" lead singer should have?
According to the infamous gossip webloid TMZ, the band was in the middle of a song when a young fan bombarded the stage at the legendary Enmore Theatre. The guy was hopping along to the music when he suddenly went to put Mike in a rock 'n' roll stronghold.
Nope - that wasn't about to happen.
The 47-year-old bassist (real name, Michael John Burkett) ended up punching the teen, and then kicking him right in the face. Of course, a fellow concertgoer captured the violent reaction on video:
Ouch - that looked painful!
But no worries - that's what rock 'n' roll's all about, right?
The onstage beat-down quickly went viral on the web. But turns out that the "victim" (who guys by Alex on Twitter) takes the blame. Mike WAS in pain:
@alexanderpeterq: "Calm down guys, it didn't even hurt."
@alexanderpeterq: "So many people have started following me, hope they don't get disappointed when they find out how boring I actually am."
And Fat Mike even offered a truce:
@FatMike_of_NOFX: "I'm sorry too Alex, I was in terrible pain all night. When you grabbed me by the neck I defensively reacted... offensively @alexanderpeterq."
@FatMike_of_NOFX : "Alex, if you go to the show on friday I'll buy you a beer. Just don't throw it at me alright?"
Ha.
