After surviving breast cancer, Christina Applegate is now helping others gain confidence and overcome the disease. The Married With Children alum revealed in a recent interview that being diagnosed with cancer can make you feel lonely.

Christina beat breast cancer in 2008 after having a double mastectomy and she has now teamed up with Stand Up To Cancer and the Cancer Treatment Centers of America to help others overcome their diagnosis. In order to help, the 42-year-old calls other patients and survivors and listens to them, because kind words from other survivors is what helped her get through her time with cancer.

The Anchorman actress explained that although she gets nervous before her calls, she does it because it can really help another girl. "But the one thing that helped me was, 'I'm here for you,' so that you never feel alone and I think when you get diagnosed with cancer there's such a sense of loneliness, but we need to know as people going through this is that you're not alone," Christina exclusively told E! Online while shooting a new PSA for the Show That You Care campaign.

"Our doctors understood that we as cancer survivors or patients are the ones that really understand one another on a deep cellular level," she revealed in her interview with the publication. "I had these three strangers in my life who I called up at anytime of the night and they would be there for me and answer any questions that I have...I still talk to them to this day," she added.

Christina has been big supporter of Breast Cancer Awareness efforts for a long time now, participating in walks, working with cancer organizations and creating the Right Action for Women foundation.

"Right Action for Women is committed to helping women access the information and advanced screening tests they need to beat this disease and to stay healthy. We encourage you to read through the information provided on these pages and to visit the resource center that provides you with links to important websites," Christina wrote on her foundation website.

"As a survivor, I am steadfastly committed to helping women access the information and tests they need to beat this disease," she added.
