Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro: Sad Destination for Late Tony Scott's Suicide Death

"Top Gun" director Tony Scott jumped to his death on Sunday (August 19) from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro.  Eye witnesses saw Scott jump off and immediately reported the suicide.  

A large team including officers from the Los Angeles Police Department, California Highway Patrol, firefighters, port police and the Coast Guard joined forces to search for his body in the waters.  

According to the Coroner's Department and port police, Scott climbed over a fence and threw his body into the waters approximate 12:30 p.m. Sunday.  His body was finally found by a dive team approximately 4:30 p.m..

The Vincent Thomas Bridge was built in 1963 and stands up to 185 feet above the LA harbor.  Unfortunately, many people have committed suicide at this spot over the years.  

A suicide note was left by Scott, 68, who is survived by his third and current wife Donna Scott and children.  Contents of the suicide note have not been revealed yet.

Celebs poured their condolences on Twitter for their lost friend and his family members.
