The rumors are false - beloved actress Mary Tyler Moore is NOT dead!
Unfortunately, the 7-year-old's former co-star Richard Schaal did pass away on November 4, 2014. The iconic comedian was once married to Valerie Harper. He died in California at the age of 86
The disturbing "RIP" mix-up recently went viral online. The FAKE "news" website MediaMass later posted this bogus report, further insitigating the morbid death hoax buzz:
"At about 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday (November 05, 2014), our beloved actress Mary Tyler Moore passed away. Mary Tyler Moore was born on December 29, 1936 in New York. She will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page" (via Inquisitr.com).
Definitely not something to joke about, considering the "Ordinary People" starlet isn't doing too well health-wise. She's fought a longtime battle with diabetes, and is now entirely blind.
In a recent interview with Closer Weekly, Moore's TV hubby Dick Van Dyke said, "I don't see her often, but I talk to her a bunch... She hasn't been too well. She's really having a battle with it, I'm sorry to say."
Because of her failing health, Moore remains out of the Hollywood spotlight. According to dear industry friend Betty White, "Her eyesight is what the big problem is right now... [She] is almost beyond the point [of being able to see]."
Meanwhile, reps for the sitcom beauty released this statement on Thursday (November 6):
"She joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. She's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet."
