'Guardians Of The Galaxy 2' Plot Details, Spoilers: James Gunn Hints At Marvel Movie Trilogy

Before Guardians of the Galaxy even hit theaters this summer, we learned that Marvel had already decided that a sequel was needed- but will this franchise become a trilogy? According to director James Gunn's recent interview with The Playlist, the filmmaker is definitely looking into the future, and even past Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

When asked what we can expect from the next chapter in the Guardians film franchise, Gunn revealed that he's always been thinking "big picture" ideas with the project.

"I had the basic story for number two while I was working on number one, and perhaps even beyond that," he explained, according to Slash Film. "So it's gonna answer a lot of questions that are proposed in the first one, and we'll be able to get to know some of the characters we didn't get to know in the first one a little bit more, and we might meet a few new characters too."

Gunn goes on to talk about big budget vs. small budget filmmaking, working within Marvel Studios and even Lost. Check out more from this interview here!
