It's official - Joe Dirt's back.
David Spade first debuted his "trailer trash, wig wearin', acid wash jean lovin', rock concert tee-shirt sportin'" alterego back in 2001:
The film quickly became an "underground" comedy classic. Fans have been anxiously awaiting a sequel for years.
Now one's finally in production. Thanks in part to Spade's longtime Hollywood friend, Adam Sandler.
Just last week, the "Grown Ups 2" funnyman shared this viral snapshot on Facebook:
"JOE DIRT 2: Beautiful Loser filming in November #dang."
Awesome. Filming will take place in good ol' Louisiana.
Back in October, the two co-stars confirmed the hilarious follow-up (which will be joint-produced by the Sony-based company Crackle and Happy Madison, via Us Weekly).
In a recent interview with Deadline, Crackle General Manager Eric Berger revealed:
"David Spade had a fresh and unique vision for Joe Dirt 2 that he could have brought anywhere and we couldn't be happier that he brought it to Crackle for a first-of-its-kind, worldwide release... The original film has been a longtime viewer favorite, ranking among the most viewed in our library, and we decided to produce and distribute the sequel as a feature for fans everywhere."
MstarsNews readers can expect "Joe Dirt 2" to hit theaters sometime in 2015.
