Victoria Gotti is no stranger to the limelight with her appearance on reality TV, books and column in the New York Post.
Not to mention that she grew up as the daughter to famed mob crime boss John Gotti.
In Part 2 of MStars News's exclusive interview, we spoke with the Growing Up Gotti: 10 Years Later star about the just-announced cast of The Celebrity Apprentice, The Real Housewives of New Jersey's Teresa Giudice, the movie about her life, VH1's Mob Wives and what's in her future.
MStars News: I wanted to ask you about other things going on. I know the big news was Celebrity Apprentice announced their new cast, and you were a big part of the show. Can you tell me about your experience on the show, what you learned?
Victoria: I enjoyed it. I know everyone says this, and it's funny because you don't really discuss it at the time. Vivica Fox is a friend of mine and I knew she had recently done the show ... She was going to be on a special Oprah was doing last month, and I caught a few minutes of it, because she texted me at the last minute, and I caught a few minutes of it.
One of the questions Oprah asked her and says, "You were a part of Apprentice, how was that?" And she just stood there and then she said, "Huh?" And Oprah says, "Well, would you ever do it again?" And she says, "Hell no!" And you laugh because Oprah says, "Why does everybody who's done that show say that?" And I looked at the TV and I remembered thinking, OK, so it's not just me. Everybody feels that way, that's great. At least you know you're in the majority. I had a really fun time doing it, but I guess what dampened mine a little more too was, first of all, I think I went in with the wrong concept totally. I thought we were going in as a team. I wasn't a regular watcher, I will be very honest, I told that to the producers when they came and approached me, but I should have maybe watched it more and got involved in more of the back burner, backstabbing things that went along with the show.
I thought it was a group effort, but no, when you get in that door and that camera goes click, it's everybody for themselves, and already the women's team, they already have who in their minds becomes that threat. So it's like you're walking around with a target on your back, and I did not understand that ... Is it something I would do again? Probably not, but would I say I would not have wanted to do it? No, I think it was a good experience, and with everything in life, good or bad, it's about growth. I think you need that.
MStars: One of your good friends who came out of the show was Teresa [Giudice]. So how is your relationship with her now?
Victoria: The relationship's good, the problem right now is still as someone who respects her ... she does not want anyone that, at least she would feel that loyalty, to discuss her. I guess because of what they're going through, and I get it.
MStars: I think this was last year, or the year before, you were going to do the Gotti movie with Lindsay Lohan and John Travolta. Is that done, or is that a possibility, or not happening?
Victoria: I'm being told it's still moving forward, full steam ahead. I saw Travolta recently in my brother's company. Again, anything past that, it's not a project that was my project ... I wasn't ever doing it, but certainly I look forward to it, seeing it like everybody else.
MStars: What do you think of Lindsay playing you?
Victoria: That's not happening, from what I understand that's not happening. I think that was changed quickly after the movie stuff was announced, but I, one way or another, back then, as I said, I didn't have a feeling one way or another. To me, she's a good actress and I'm sure she would have done the role some justice, as she does in a lot of the roles she plays. And there were a few people I was asked about. I think there were a few choices they were going with and it's great company and I'm sure whoever does it will do it justice.
MStars: Who would you want to play you in your life story?
Victoria: They always ask me that; I have no answer. I really have no set answer. I know that at one time I sat with Paramount and I want to say it was about six to seven years ago, and they desperately wanted the rights to the movie, but it was not something I was going to do ... The meeting that was four people suddenly developed into a meeting with 14 people. There was standing room only in the room, a lot of people were brought in to meet me and vice versa, and conversations just flew back and forth. My best friend Robert and I couldn't believe what was going on in the room. Like I said, as if we were no longer there, and they had their ideal persona to play me. I was very surprised because I was going a little lower route in my mind, and they right away had Angelina Jolie. They could see her in this shrine. I heard everything from how strong of a woman she could, a role she could play.
And I just remember looking at my best friend and going, "What?" It seemed surreal ... I mean afterwards, thinking about it, do I think she could tackle the role? Absolutely. They made a lot of sense. These are people that do this for a living. They made much sense, but I have never had people could ask me that question yesterday, tomorrow, I will never have that answer, I simply don't know.
MStars: A big show on TV now is, and has been for a few years, is Mob Wives. Do you have anything to say, any comment, on the new season? Do you know any of the ladies, like Karen [Gravano]?
Victoria: I really don't. I don't [know] them. That's I think the misconception, I don't know any of them. I don't really have any opinion, it's something that they do ... If someone were to ask me, "Is this real life?" No!
MStars: What's next up for you? Do you want to do another reality show? What else do you have in store that you want to do, or that you're going to do?
Victoria: Well, I'm working on my next novel. That will be out late spring. I try to do one every two years these days, so that keeps me busy. I manage a heck of a lot of commercial properties, so that takes a good 9-5; I should say 9-8 of my days. And we're always working on new projects. As for the reality show, I don't know. I don't know what the future holds. [The Growing Up Gotti special], having the fact that we did this, was a surprise to us. A fun surprise, but it wasn't something we planned and initially were going to do, and all of a sudden we all got together as a group and we talked it out, and now we're so glad. It turned out to be a really fun, good project.
MStars: If you were offered a spot on the Real Housewives, would you want to be in that or not really?
Victoria: That's not my cup of tea, not right now in my life ... if [another reality show] is right, if the project is right, I would do it. But there's everyday life, too. I do what I do best, and what I enjoy. I basically go about my business, and as I said, each project that comes along, you think about it, consider it or you say no. It's not for me, it's not right for me right now. And sometimes you have regrets, most times I don't.
You can catch the Growing Up Gotti: 10 Years Later special Monday night, Nov. 10, at 9 p.m. on A&E.
