UK actor, comic, broadcaster and author Russell Brand has cheekily answered his critics and those poking fun at him and his vocabulary on social media via the Russell Brand "Parklife" meme by releasing a parody of the 1994 Blur hit, according to NME.
Brand has weathered a storm of criticism following the release of his new book, Revolution, and one of the most popular ways to mock the comedian in the past week has been adding 'Parklife' responses to his tweets, while also appropriating clips of him talking and splicing it with Blur's class-battle anthem "Parklife".
But Brand, far from turning the other cheek, has used the meme to further his position regarding perceived social injustice, releasing a video of him parodying the Blur song, changing the lyrics to push his political message. He's joined in the video by Irish comedians/musicians the Rubberbandits, who provide typically off-beat accompaniment.
His legendary verbosity is put to good use, delivering lines like "Verbal dexterity plus estuary accent is what leads to parody of Parklife. But words used efficiently can be a dangerous tool that slices through propaganda like a..." With the Rubberbandits providing the shrill "sharp knife" refrain.
British Prime Minister David Cameron, leader of UKIP Nigel Farage and Eton also cop a serve in the song.
Cheers to @Rubberbandits for their work on PARKLIFE https://t.co/7PoeN84grZ Our next caper will be water metres in Ireland.

Regardless of what you think of Brand's views, you've got to hand it to Brand for shaping the meme for his own purposes. It comes as part of his Trews ('True News') youtube series, which has also featured Brand responding to the news of the day, while also helping promote his book.
