‘New Girl’ Recap: “Goldmine” Reveals Gay Nick And New Romances

This week's episode of New Girl is all about lies and romance. "Goldmine" reveals a gay Nick and Jess's new man. Plus, Winston tries to woo his neighbors through manual labor.

The episode begins with Jess talking to the guys about the new guy she is dating named Ian. It will be their third date coming up and she wants to sleep with him, so she needs help figuring out how to tell him that she lives with her ex. The guys all tell her not to tell him, but Jess is too honest for that.

Nick on the other hand tells all the women he sleeps with that he lives with his ex in order to get rid of them the next day. As Nick tells Jess that all men want a simple relationship she starts to question all the women he is bringing home. He agrees that they are not all winners and calls them "uh-ohs," which is hilarious.

Meanwhile, Winston is catering to his hot neighbors' needs in order to eventually sleep with one of them. He sorts their mail, fixes their toilet and installs shelves in their apartment. Coach tells him to make a move already, but he says he is in it for the long haul. Moments later Coach asks the girls to hangout that night and Winston is not happy.

In Schmidt's world, he is falling apart after he realizes that Cece wants to get breast reduction surgery. He goes through the five stages of grief and finally hits the stage of acceptance. Before he can lay the issue to rest he ruins Cece's appointment in order to say goodbye to her breasts. Cece eventually gives into his insanity and lets him look at them one more time.

Back to Winston and Coach, they are trying to talk to the neighbors when Schmidt is there and he keeps referring to Cece's breasts but makes it sound like he is talking about Coach and Winston. At first it is a positive, but eventually they all get kicked out of the girls' apartment. Winston is again upset, because he has put six months into working these ladies.

While Jess is on her date with Ian, she decides to tell him the truth about Nick living with her. Once she does he quickly decides to leave the date, so she changes her story. Jess tells him not to worry because Nick is now gay! Because Nick is awesome, he agrees to go along with the lie to help her get laid.

Nick and Jess create an elaborate backstory for "gay Nick," as his friends call him, while Ian is at their apartment in the restroom. Nick talks about liking rugby for the men, and reveals he loves a good game of make believe. Unfortunately, Nick doesn't stay gay for long. He tells Jess (the morning after she sleeps with Ian) that he has a girl there and she panics.

Jess tries to convince Nick's girl that she is crazy to scare her off, but it doesn't work. The girl (named Tina) is insane and it totally okay with Jess living with Nick. Meanwhile Nick is distracting Ian, but his story is starting to unravel.

Back to Winston, he is back in the girls' apartment installing shelves as Coach walks in to yell at him. He tells the girls that Winston isn't going to do things for them because they are clearly using him. The girls have a pow-wow and they decide that one of them will sleep with him in order to keep him around as their house helper and Winston is ecstatic.

Right when Ian starts to question Nick being gay, Schmidt walks in and is super depressed. He starts to tell Nick about his night and it sounds like they are a couple. Nick proceeds to kiss him and Ian is back on board with the story. Unfortunately, the crazy one night stand runs into the kitchen and kisses Nick, ruining everything.

Ian is furious and packs his bag and leaves. Cece comes over later that day, after he doctor's appointment and her boobs are still big, which makes Schmidt happy. She goes to talk to Jess and sees that the whole loft is waiting in line for the shower, because they assume Winston is in it. They eventually realize that it is actually Tina, who is a hot mess. She is never going to leave!
