The Office star Steve Carell stopped by The Howard Stern Show for a conversation about his newest dramatic film Foxcatcher. And from the sound of it, the actor is hoping for an Oscar nomination! Heading over to Stern following his 60 Minutes piece, Carell admitted that he didn't watch the program... mainly because he feels uncomfortable in those "in depth" interviews. Luckily, his wife, Nancy, signed off.
With that, however, it seems Carell would be totally comfortable getting that golden statue nom, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"To get nominated would be really, really cool," Carell said of the Academy Awards. "I would love to get nominated –– I'll be honest with you." Of course, that was enough reason for Stern to run with it and call for an all-out campaign to get Carell nominated for that Academy Award!
The actor continued, "One of the main reasons [getting nominated] would be cool is because my folks are 89, and that would be such a cool thing."

As mentioned, Carell was recently featured on 60 Minutes to promote the new Bennett Miller-directed film. Check out his segment here:
In Foxcatcher, Carell plays paranoid-schizophrenic millionaire John du Pont. The film chronicles wrestler Mark Schultz (played by Channing Tatum) as he builds a relationship with du Pont as they train for the 1988 games located in Seoul. Check out the trailer for Foxcatcher below:
While Foxcatcher is a far stretch from his Office character Michael Scott or his role in the Anchorman films, it's not a totally shocking one, considering some of his wonderfully charming dramatic acting roles in the past... such as Dan in Real Life and The Way Way Back. With that said, Foxcatcher does appear to have a more raw feel to it than his past dramatic roles, so perhaps we're about to see another side of the famed comedic name!
Foxcatcher will be released this coming Friday, Nov. 14.
So, readers, what do you think –– does Steve Carell deserve that Oscar nod?
