Chelsea football club have announced huge profits for this season, showing how much they've grown as a club, and they're going to spend the money in style. Roman Abramovich had funded most deals out of his own pocket, but now Jose Mourinho can secure two huge deals for the club from money they've earned themselves. The "next" Wayne Rooney, Ross Barkley and Marco Reus are at the top of their shopping list, and the Blues are sure that by luring these two to Stamford Bridge nobody can snatch the Premier League crown from them.
The club announced a near $35 million profit, according to the Daily Mail, and now they can go and strengthen their team in the transfer window. This proves they're now the wealthiest club, when looking at what they've earned off their own backs, and now they're prepared to spend more once again after running a tight budget in recent seasons.
Barkley is their main target, but they won't be getting a Rooney-like player, as he has distanced himself from the comparisons, saying, according to the BBC, "I just see myself being the player I am. It's natural for the media to compare us because we came through the Everton youth ranks and are both playing for England, but I don't like all the comparisons. He's been really helpful. As soon as I came into the squad he came up to me and helped me settle in, and I'm thankful for it. Ever since I've been young I always wanted to do what Wayne did. He's going to go down as one of England's greats."
Chelsea have some spare change to spend, and they're looking to spend it in style, adding some superb players to their already impressive squad, but whatever they do, they'd best not call Barkley by Rooney's name.
