Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne Engaged: Reactions on Twitter

Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne are engaged and surprised everyone with the news on August 21, 2012.  Officially announced through PEOPLE, Lavigne's rep confirmed the engagement.  Kroeger presented a 14-carat engagement ring to his girlfriend of 6 months on August 8.  

"He makes her so happy.  Both of their families could not be more excited," said a family source to the magazine.

Nickelback bandmates tweeted "Congratulations Avril and Chad!"

Lavigne,  27, and Kroeger, 37, met while working on a new tune for Lavigne's upcoming studio album.  

Their relationship was very quiet, so this engagement came as a surprise to many.  

"What , Avril Lavigne is Engaged to the lead singer of Nickleback?!?!?! I didn't even know they were together..." wrote an unknowing Twitter user @Allystar77.

"Wait. Since when is Avril Lavigne not dating Brody Jenner?" tweeted Betches Love This.

"MY TWO FAVOURITE PEOPLE ARE GETTING MARRIED. Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne, omg, best plot twist ever," tweeted Aly.

"I think we can all agree Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger shouldn't be allowed to write their own wedding vows," said Andy Levy.
