Is Rex Ryan going to dump Michael Vick for Geno Smith this week? The Jets coach believes his job is safe for the moment... but it's looking less and less likely he'll return as coach of the New York team next year. So, with his coaching future on the line, what will Ryan do this week against the Miami Dolphins?
The coach at least believes he won't be fired before the end of the season. "Unless it changes drastically, I will be the head coach here for the next five weeks," Ryan told the New York Post after the team's horrific 38-3 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Detroit. "That's what I know and I'm going to go about my job like I always do."
After six years in New York, it sure seems like Rex's time is up, unless he can turn this Jets team around in spectacular fashion over the final five weeks of the season. Which, as Fox's Mike Garafolo tweets, seems unlikely:

The Jets, who the New York Times described as "unprepared and overwhelmed" after the Bills loss, and the NYT say that Ryan's "reckoning will come soon", adding that the "Jets' owner, Woody Johnson, has no choice".
Likewise ESPN's Rich Cimini says that Ryan is done, writing "It's time. Ryan has reached his expiration date with the Jets. It doesn't matter if you're pro-Rex or anti-Rex, because the conclusion is inevitable: Ryan is done." He then tweeted that Ryan doesn't believe his team "hasn't quit" on him.

In the meantime with Ryan coaching for his future and his job, he wouldn't commit to a starting quarterback in this week's matchup against AFC East division rival Miami. Vick, though, is expected to get the start.
If Rex Ryan is still calling the shots and Mike Vick's calf is fine, Vick is expected to start vs Dolphins on MNF, I'm told. #nyj

Ryan on delayed QB decision: Will talk to two QBs tomorrow. @nyj

As CBSsports.com reports, after Monday's game "I want to see how they look," Ryan said. "Sometimes you have a feel and a sense of it on the field. When you watch the tape, maybe you see a differently. So we'll take a look at it and do what we think is best."
Who do you think ought to start: Vick or Geno? Will either help save Rex Ryan's job? Or would the Jets be better off tanking the remainder of the season and try to snag someone like Marcus Mariota in the NFL draft?
