Based on the Alfred Hitchcock thriller, Psycho, Bates Motel explores the events preluding to the serial massacre in the A&E drama. In the upcoming Season 3, will Sheriff Alex Romero (Nestor Carbonell) and Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) become more and more suspicious of the boy as his mind splits?
As we previously mentioned, Bates Motel follows the teen years of tortured teen Norman (Highmore) and his manipulative mother Norma (Vera Farmiga). Destined to become a psychopath, did Norman lose his mind from the very beginning, or was forced upon him by his surroundings and the people around him? Will Dylan (Max Thieriot) save his Norman before their own family and town tear their brotherhood apart?
In the second season finale, Norman passed the polygraph test, proving he knew nothing about his teacher's murder. But was it Norman speaking, or his mother speaking for him? Sheriff Alex Romero (Carbonell) still has his suspicions about the teen with multiple personality.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Highmore teases Sheriff Romero is still chasing after the Bates family "In the third season, his suspicions are aroused once again by a certain incident, so that uncertainty around who Norman really is sparks off again in his mind."
We previously mentioned that Emma (Olivia Cooke) will change this upcoming season, "Her lung capacity is depleted because of an infection. You start to wonder how long she really has left. Emma's still working at the motel. There's a proposition from Norman that excites her as well. In their relationship, they get a lot closer in a way that is super-lovely and exciting for Emma, but then she realizes not all is what it seems."
