After fans of the Wyoming-based crime drama series Longmire were left heartbroken earlier this year when A&E canceled the show after its 3rd season finale, it looks like Netflix could save it! The online streaming service is once again coming to the rescue of a beloved series, producing new episodes for Longmire's 4th season.

As Warming Glow pointed out around the time of it's cancelation, Longmire was technically a success in terms of ratings and viewership. Unfortunately, the series had an older audience, which isn't great for advertising. Meanwhile, Netflix would probably love to gain this demographic (with a median age range of 60), thus these talks are happening.

Deadline reports:

Sources caution that negotiations between Netflix and Longmire producer Warner Horizon have been tricky, and there is a chance that a final agreement may not be reached, though there is a will on both sides and insiders are hopeful. If a deal closes, Season 4 of Longmire eyes a tentative March production start date.

If Netflix doesn't work out, there's always Hulu, Yahoo Screen, Amazon, etc., but we're hoping Netlfix wins out with this one.

According to TV Line, and what fans of the show will tell you, Longmire ended on somewhat of a cliffhanger. The sound of a shotgun going off at one of the tensest moments of the series is all fans have to hold onto right now. If this deal works out, season four will surely be a hit.
