Taylor Swift is the biggest music star on the planet, but has been unlucky in love numerous times. Her last high-profile relationship, with One Direction's Harry Styles, ended in 2013 with a lot of tears.
"It broke my heart!" the "Shake It Off" singer told Us Weekly. "I was selling out stadiums and it was all people talked about."
Since the pop star got fed up with all of the attention paid to her failed relationship with the "Steal My Girl" singer, she decided to focus on her music. It led her to write and record 1989, which sold 1.3 million records in its first week of release.
"Now people talk less about the things that don't matter," she said.
The superstar also talked to the mag about some of the songs on the album and the inspiration for them. The song "Stay" came about from a dream she had.
"I was trying to talk to someone important," the "Out of the Woods" singer said. "And that's all that would come out of my mouth. I woke up so weirded out!"
About the song "How You Get the Girl," she exclaimed, "It's written for a guy who has broken up with his girlfriend, then wants her back after six months. But it's not going to be as simple as sending a text like, 'Sup? Miss you.' That won't work. You need to do all the things I say."
Taylor has been riding high with her latest hit album, but as MStars News reported, she has been embroiled in a very public back-and-forth with free streaming site Spotify over her decision to take down her music catalogue.
"I just don't agree with perpetuating the perception that music has no value and should be free," she told Yahoo! Music. "A lot of people were suggesting to me that I try putting new music on Spotify with "Shake It Off," and so I was open-minded about it. I thought, 'I will try this; I'll see how it feels.' It didn't feel right to me. I felt like I was saying to my fans, 'If you create music someday, if you create a painting someday, someone can just walk into a museum, take it off the wall, rip off a corner off it, and it's theirs now and they don't have to pay for it.' I didn't like the perception that it was putting forth. And so I decided to change the way I was doing things."
