While Ubisoft's new title Assassin's Creed Unity has been facing some criticism in critical reviews after its release date earlier this month, maybe one of the harshest comments comes from former French minister and ex-Presidential candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon. The politician, who formed the Left Party in France, apparently shared some harsh words about the game, slamming Unity for its depiction of the French Revolution, calling it a "travesty."

According to IGN, Jean-Luc didn't appreciate how the video game showed positive characterizations of King Louis XVI and his wife, Marie Antoinette. During a French radio interview, the politician attacked the video game.
"It is propaganda against the people, the people who are (portrayed as) barbarians, bloodthirsty savages," he said, according to Eurogamer. "In 1789 there were the poor aristocrats, and they are presented as fine upstanding people."
He added: "And the man who was our liberator at a certain moment of the Revolution - because the Revolution lasted a long time - Robespierre, is presented as a monster."
