Kate Hudson Talks Winemaking And Seeing Herself As A FarmVille 2 Avatar

Kate Hudson is more than an actress, model and mother; she's now a winemaker and most recently a video game character. The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress is opening up about her wine brand and reveals what it's like to be a FarmVille avatar.

The 35-year-old actress and husband Matthew Bellamy created their own wine company Hudson-Bellamy Wines in 2011 after Kurt Russell started producing GoGi Wines. His passion for winemaking sparked the couple's interest and they, in turn, created their own label. They currently have three wines available to purchase: A Little Time (a Sauvignon Blanc), Que Syrah Syrah (a Rose of Syrah) and Common Ground (a Pinot Noir).

"Winemaking is a seriously creative process that is completely integrated into nature so you never know what the year is going to bring ... You tune into all of your senses besides touch-its sight, color, smell. It's no wonder people who love wine are so passionate because you are tapping into so many different senses at once," Kate told People.

Her love of wine and the fall was the inspiration for her new video game avatar, which can be seen in FarmVille 2: Country Escape starting Tuesday. "Creating the avatar was really fun and it's always funny to see yourself as a cartoon character. We got a good kick out of it, although I will say I'm really digging the outfit and I may need to go purchase some short overalls," she said.

"FarmVille 2: Country Escape is a fun and unique way to share our Hudson Bellamy Wines with a wide array of people. Our wines are small lot, so the rustic, community environment in the game fits right in with our values of making sustainable, local product," Kate explained in a press release.

In the new game, players can not only be Kate's avatar, but also they can virtually make her wines and cook her fig burrata flatbread recipe, according to the statement. Kate's recipes won't be the only ones you can find in the new game. FarmVille 2 will feature a Table Recipe Book with dishes from food bloggers and celebrity chefs including Marc Murphy from Chopped.
