Taylor Swift's new song "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" has taken over the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It soared from No. 72 to No. 1 this week and zoomed past Flo Rida's "Whistle", "Ellie Goulding's "Lights" and Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe".
It is the first single off of her new studio album "Red" set to release on October 22, 2012. Swift was very pleased and excited for the accomplishment.
"#1 on Billboard's Hot 100!!?! This has been the most amazing week. I can't believe how incredible you guys are. (Jumping up and down)," she tweeted.
"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" sold an impressive 623,000 downloads in just one week's time. It is the most sold by a solo female artist.
While fans are still unsure who the song is about, Swift did reveal that the song was written as a result of a funny experience she had in the studio.
"Writing 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' was one of the most hilarious experiences I have ever had in the studio because it just happened so naturally."
A friend of Swift's ex-boyfriend stopped by the studio one day and questioned Swift if she will be geting back together with her ex-boyfriend.
Swift explained to CMT, "He starts talking about how he's heard we were getting back together and that was not the case. I picked up the guitar and just started singing, 'we are never- It just happened so fast. It was so much fun."
Now that fans have supported and pushed for her song to hit No. 1 on the charts, isn't it about time that the singer reveal who the song is about?
