'Marvel's Luke Cage' Casting: Lance Gross, Mike Colter, Cleo Anthony Vying For New Netflix Series!

With Marvel's Daredevil already in production, the casting search has already begun for the leading man in the next Netflix series. Actors Lance Gross (Crisis), Mike Colter (Zero Dark Thirty) and Cleo Anthony (Transparent) are all in consideration to play the Marvel's Luke Cage.

Deadline reports Marvel is already testing a lineup of male actors for the live-action comic book drama. In a different approach to Daredevil's solo series, the plan is for Luke Cage to appear in a two-part episode of Jessica Jones. From there, after being introduced, the Marvel's superhero will then star in his own series.

In the Marvel Universe, Carl Lucas is framed for a crime he didn't commit. Wanting to get revenge for the alleged drug bust, the wrongfully accused criminal volunteers for an experimental treatment at the prison. The chemical compounds end up giving him superhuman strength and durability.

We reported here, Cage was featured prominently in the posters for the AXIS crossover event. In the comics, Cage and Jones have a on-and-off relationship, even a drunken one night stand. Known for his team-ups with Iron Fist, Cage also served as a bodyguard for Matt Murdock, when his secret identity was revealed by the press.

Supposedly, the Everybody Hates Chris comedian, Terry Crews, had been offered by Marvel to play the role. The question was timing, especially because his award-winning Brooklyn Nine-Nine is already in its second season.

Gross was phenomenal in Tyler Perry's House of Payne. Colter showed incredible range as boxer Big Willie Little in Million Dollar Baby. Anthony is already making headlines because of his role as Derek in Transparent.

Audiences, including MStars News, couldn't get enough of the action-packed footage from Marvel's Daredevil at New York Comic Con. Let's hope Marvel does something like this again with Luke Cage.
