Freddie Roach and Bob Arum have done a great job throughout Manny Pacquiao's boxing career, but now it's believed that just Chris Algieri stands in their way from getting him in the ring to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. The Algieri camp is in good spirits, believing they can spring the upset of all upsets, ruining one of 2015's most anticipated boxing bouts. Manny and Freddie might be the perfect team, but apparently their relationship is still strictly business. Manny doesn't have his telephone number, and Roach added, "And I don't have his," Manny explained why they've been so successful, saying, "The secret is that when we get to our training, I'm not the boss. You have to accept that's part of boxing ... to stay here [as champion] for long, to improve more, the trainer is the boss. I believe in Freddie, I've trusted him from the beginning."
Arum added to this shock, saying, "It's different, in that Manny still relies on Freddie as a pupil, while Ali in the end relied on Dundee almost as a cheerleader. That says a lot about Manny, that he realizes Freddie's knowledge is much greater, and how Manny's still willing to learn." Manny believes he's as fit as he ever was, saying, "We're very happy because we felt like those early days. We did our best to train, focus and bring our best to the ring. It's all set."
However, every dog has its day, and many believe that Chris could beat Manny. Whatever the outcome, this is a must-see fight, and one that will shape the sport of boxing for 2015 and forever.
