With The Americans expected to return for Season 3, FX has released a new easer trailer and announced the January premiere date for popular spy drama. As the spy vs spy confrontation heats up, will Elizabeth (Keri Russell) and Philip Jennings (Matthew Rhys) with their 'Ice Flag' in the new year?
Created by former CIA officer Joe Weisberg, the critically acclaimed espionage drama is set in a suburban neighborhood in Washington, D.C. The '80s period drama centers on two KGB spies Elizabeth (Russell) and Philip (Rhys) posing as an American married couple with children. As their spy ring heads into dangerous territory, the Jennings have to keep their innocent kids away from their neighbor, Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich), an FBI agent who is just one step away from blowing their cover.
We previously mentioned actress Karen Pittman has been cast Lisa, a a struggling mother and a recovering alcoholic. Lisa works at the assembly line of a highly classified Defense Department project. During an Alcoholic Anonymous meeting, Elizabeth will befriend Lisa, just so that she can gain access to the classified project.
We also mentioned Frank Langella will play the role of Gabriel,a former KGB handler who comes out of retirement. Back in business, Gabriel is now responsible for overseeing his two KGB operatives on their secret missions. Gabriel takes over from Jennings' previous handler, Claudia (Margo Martindale).
While Hitflix announced the third season premiere date, FX Networks launched another teaser trailer on their official YouTube account. Just like Flying Colors, the short video features juxtaposing imagery of the two opposing flags consumed in ice, as if to say "Hell has frozen over."
