Pop superstar Katy Perry has taken to twitter to upbraid what she calls 'stalkers' who are hounding her every step in Australia. The "Roar" singer says that the Australian media "Should be ashamed" when the hounding of press meant she wasn't allowed to enjoy a simple day at the beach.

Reports Australian news site news.com.au, Katy had an unpleasant encounter with photographers in Sydney, when she wasn't able to "take a quiet walk on the beach" as she was harassed by paparazzi.

Said Katy in a statement posted to her twitter, the Australian press "should be ashamed of your paparazzi & tabloid culture. Your paparazzi have no respect, no integrity, no character, NO HUMANITY."

As she went on, the singer - who was formerly married to comedian/actor Russell Brand and rumored to now be dating superstar DJ Diplo - accused the paps of stalking her, saying "I was stalked by many grown men today as I tried to take a quiet walk to the beach. These men would not stop as I pleaded over & over to let me have my space."

Apparently passersby attempted to help the singer, but it didn't help, as the paps "continued to laugh at me & hold their barrels up & shoot".

Even more disturbing was the claim that the media representatives wanted Katy to make a deal with them, "Give them a bathing suit shot and they would leave me be," accused the singer, who lis in Australia for a run of 23 dates as part of her worldwide Prismatic tour.

These actions are what caused Perry to go over the edge, as she said "This is PERVERTED & disgusting behavior that should NEVER be tolerated, especially by people who do NOT want this."

"I Will NEVER make a deal with paparazzii and I will not befriend anyone who perpetuates this kind of behavior."

Taking matters into her own hands, Katy then tweeted out some of her own paparazzi snaps of the photographers, saying "THESE ARE A FEW OF THE STALKERS".

Expose also reported that despite the unpleasant, intimidating events, it didn't cause Katy to cancel her show in Sydney that night, saying she played "Sydney's Allphones Arena on Friday evening, where she performed a selection of her hits to 60,000 fans."

Also, according to her instagram, Katy 'popped' in to her pop up store in Sydney that afternoon, shocking fans. Here's hoping the nasty paparazzi experience doesn't deter her from attending the red carpet for Australian ARIAs (that country's version of the Grammys).
