Sammy Watkins was the main WR coming in to the NFL this season, but so far he has been out-performed by rivals Mike Evans and Odell Beckham Jr. Rumors have suggested that he's angry that he's not the main man, that he's angry at their performances and, most of all, still angry that the Cleveland Browns opted not to draft him, turning their attention two first-round players: Justin Gilbert and Johnny Manziel. After yesterday's snow-cancellation, according to ESPN, the Buffalo Bills will play the New York Jets, and an "angry" Watkins is hoping to show the world just how good he is, and then he'll be hoping to make the Browns pay for deciding against picking him.
Perhaps it's an attitude problem that's holding him back. Former NFL quarterback David Carr recently said, according to the Buffalo News, "Sammy, maybe keep your mouth shut next time."
Carr was hitting out at comments Watkins had made, and it seems like he can be more bothered about the spotlight, as proven with his touchdown celebration before — and failing — to score a TD in a recent game. Can he put his attitude aside and top his rivals?
It's evident that he carries all the talent in the world, but his rival WR have done their talking on the field, and now is the time for Watkins to do just that. He now has two defensively unstable teams in the Jets and Browns to put things right against. The Browns are also injury-hit, meaning Watkins can target their incredibly weak defense.
He might become a top wide receiver, but at the moment he's not looking like becoming the best out of his class, and for that reason expect Sammy to step his game up against two inconsistent NFL teams this week.
