'Gotham' Recap: Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue Must Save Bruce Wayne In "Batman" Winter Finale, "Lovecraft!"

The Batman prequel, Gotham, arrives with its winter finale on Fox. As DC Comics characters make his way onto the TV screen, Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) have to save young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz)'s life in 'Lovecraft.'

While Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) teaches Bruce Wayne how balance himself, a group of assassins storm the Wayne mansion. After shouting at the kids to run, Alfred (Sean Pertwee) punches the female assassin and gives a beatdown to another hired goon. As Selina and Bruce make a run for it, Alfred pulls out a gun and shoots at another assassin.   

Harvey Dent (Nicholas D'Agosto) screwed up, whispering Gordon's name to his informants. That's how the assassins ended up finding out Selina Kyle was the eye witness and was living at the Wayne mansion. Gordon will chase after Lovecraft while Bullock and Alfred follow a lead that leads them to Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett-Smith). 

Selina tells the truth, the killers are after her, not him. After refusing to help Bruce find his parents' killer, Bruce chases after her and jumps across the roof, almost falling over the ledge. After Selina grabs his arm and saves him, she agrees to help Bruce, but first they need money to leave town. 

At the Factory, Selina and Bruce meet young Poison Ivy (Clare Foley). After her father being framed by the cops, Poison Ivy's mother slit her wrist. After young Poison Ivy scares them, Selina's fence betrays her and captures Bruce. 

Alfred beats up Fish's bodyguard, holding knife to his throat. Fish refuses to help Bullock, but when Alfred smooth-talks her, she concedes. The two end up finding the kids location, where they are being held hostage. 

At the safe house, Gordon comes face-to-face with Lovecraft, who is also on the run. Lovecraft reveals the stock prices went haywire the night the Waynes were murdered, as if someone knew what was going to happen. All of sudden, the female assassin arrives, knocking Gordon out unconscious.  

Gordon wakes up after hearing his cellphone ring. While Bullock and Alfred start heading towards the Factory, Gordon discovers Lovecraft dead, shot in the head. The killers frame Gordon, using his gun in the murder.

An intense shootout follows as Selina and Bruce run around the Factory. Gordon saves Bullock's life and shoots one of the hired killers. Alfred rushes in and starts shooting, screaming Bruce's name. 

The female assassin grabs a hold on Bruce as Selina makes her escape. Bruce provides the distraction, but is warned by the assassin not to mistake bravery for good sense. As soon as she leaves, Alfred finally arrives and hugs Bruce tightly.

Selina shows up at Bruce's mansion one more time, giving him his valuables back. Before she goes, Selina gives Bruce a kiss. After she disappears, Alfred realizes the house has suddenly become a little too quiet. 

The Mayor covers-up the murder of Lovecraft as a suicide. In the aftermath, Harvey Dent gets to keep his job, But Gordon has been transferred as a security guard at Arkham Asylum. Gordon says his goodbyes to Bullock, then Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) before he leaves the precinct.
